压差法中压力差的存在不会影响材料透气性

摘要:本文通过大量实测数据证明了在压差法透气性检测中,对试样两侧施加不同的压力差不会对透气性试验数据产生影响。

有些人认为压差法中气体压力差的存在会影响软包装高分子聚合物结构状态,进而会影响透气性测试结果。针对这个问题,兰光实验室进行了大量的试验,通过实测数据分析证明这种观点是错误的。
1.压力差普遍存在于透气性测试方法中
与对压差法和等压法通常的认识所不同的是,并非只有压差法在试样两侧才会形成气体压力差,等压法中试样两侧由于气体流速调节的影响也存在压力差。压力直接作用在薄膜材料表面势必会造成材料的变形,但是如果在测试结构中存在试样支撑装置就可以有效缓解这种影响。在压差法中气体压力差的梯度方向是确定的,标准试验方法在低压侧采用多孔纸支撑试样可以很好地消除压力差对试样的影响,使得试样尽管经受强大的压力依然可以保证不出现变形。压差法中气体压力差与透气性测试数据之间的关系将在后面做详细介绍。但是对于等压法,由于试样两侧都无支撑、处于悬空状态,而且尽管试样两侧压力差很小,压力梯度方向却无法确定,因此在实际试验过程中试样出现变形的几率比压差法要高很多,试样更容易出现裂纹、变薄或透气面积增大的情况。关于等压法中压力差对透气量的影响我们也进行了很多试验,但是由于等压法中调节的是气体流量,没有对气体压力进行检测,所以我们只能定性分析,无法进行量化试验,不过可以确定的是当等压法试样两侧存在压力差时,试样会出现变形,并对透气性测试数据产生影响。
2.压差法中压力差对材料的透气性并无影响
之前已经介绍了,压差法中已经考虑到压力差的影响,因此采取了成熟的手段以避免试样出现变形。然而要在测试过程中对试样状态进行监控是很难实现的,所以要考证聚合物材料在压差法中是否因为压力差的存在而产生材料状态结构上的变化,并对压力差的存在与材料透气性测试数据的关系进行分析和验证,需要借助试样的可测性能指标进行判断。
2.1 连续测试的数据重复性以及试样厚度的变化量
之前我们已经选择了两项相关的测量指标进行分析:对同一试样进行连续多次透气性测试,观察测试结果的重复性以及测试前后试样厚度的变化量。如果气体压力差对试样微观结构的影响是使其由松散结构变的更加紧凑,即将结构松散的物质压“实”,那么材料经受较长时间的压力作用后其厚度会减小。同时,由于材料的阻隔性能与材料的物质结构有关,因此透气性测试数据应随连续测试次数的增长而呈现出减小的趋势。试验数据证明透气性测试数据并没有表现出随测试次数增加而减小的趋势,而且试样的厚度在试验前后也没有出现变化,因此压力差的存在会影响材料的状态进而影响透气性测试结果的说法是不成立的。
2.2 不同压力差与材料透气量的关系
理论上,试样的透气量、透气系数与压力差是无关的。也就是说,在不同的压力差下检测同一种材料,测得的透气量与透气系数应该是一致的,如果有个别试验数据存在偏差也是由于试验原因引起的。如果气体压力差对试样微观结构的影响是破坏材料结构,导致材料产生小的裂纹、针孔等缺陷,则测得的透气量和渗透系数会随着压力差的增大而增大。相反地,如果材料两侧压力差增大但透气量和渗透系数保持不变,则可以证明压力差的存在并没有对材料的结构产生破坏。
兰光实验室自今年3月份以来,历时3个月对八种十余件试样进行了在不同气体压力差下的大量试验,试验选择在压力差为30kPa、50kPa、70kPa、90kPa、110kPa、130kPa、150kPa这7个测试点下进行,在每个测试点下至少重复测试3遍,测试温度均为40℃。选择的试验材料包括PC(125μm)、PC(175μm)、PET(12μm)、PET(23μm)、PET(25μm)、PET(70μm)、PA(35μm)、PE(40μm)、CPP(40μm)、OPP(38μm)等软包装材料中最常用的高聚物,还进行了PE/EVOH/PE(55μm)、PA/PE(80μm)等部分复合材料的检测,材料涉及高中低阻隔性范围,透气量从1.5cm3/m2·24h·0.1MPa至7000cm3/m2·24h·0.1MPa。
由于篇幅原因,数据库中的扩散系数、溶解度系数本文中略去,材料的详细试验数据如下:

本次试验中对于不同厚度的同种材料也进行了数据对比,这里对PC(125μm)和PC(175μm)的透气量与试样两侧压力差之间的关系、以及PET(12μm)、PET(23μm)、PET(25μm)、PET(70μm)的渗透系数与试样两侧压力差之间的关系进行了对比,参见图1、图2。分析图1、图2也可以明显看出压差法中压力差的存在以及变化对于试样透气量以及渗透系数的检测没有影响。

3.总结
通过以上实测数据可知压力差的存在对试样的性能没有任何的影响。为了得到更科学、更全面的结论,目前兰光实验室还在进行更宽范围内的试验验证。
数据的稳定性与设备的精度、重复性、可靠性、试验条件、试样状态、试验操作水平等条件有着密切的关系,没有经过客观、科学、全面的试验就不能下结论。当然随意想象等压法没有压力差就不会影响试验数据,而压差法有压力差就一定影响试验数据的做法就显得更加荒谬了。
