Point Contact Coefficient of Friction Test
1. User Requirements:
Metal material slides on the surface of the film specimen, and measure the coefficient of friction between the two materials. The contact between film and metal materials is point contact.
2. Relevant Standards
As per GB 10006 Plastics – Film and Sheeting – Determination of the Coefficients of Friction
3. Testing Principle
Beset three steel balls under the sled with regulated weight. The three steel balls form a surface, and can not turn around. Place the sled onto the specimen. The sled contacts the film through the three balls.
4. Testing Procedure
Beset the three steel balls firmly on the same side of the sled, and make sure the highest points of them all of the same height. When testing, place the film specimen onto the bench and then, place the sled onto the specimen. Pull the sled for rectilinear motion with a uniform speed. Measure the change of force values on the sensor to obtain testing results, as in Fig. 1.

5. Conclusion
Through testing, demands can be satisfied.
